Hi all,

We have had a Bankinter account for 20 years.  We recently did a currency transfer through currency exchange company we have used many times before.  Our bank charged us €12 for each transfer.  The exchange company are completely baffled by this.  We have been in touch with the bank and they are calling this   a “Target” transfer fee, apparently introduced by the EU in November 2018.  Have any other Bankinter customers experienced this or are any other banks charging these fees?

Thanks.

Hi. I have recently opened a non-payroll account with Bankinter whilst closing a Bank Sabadell bank account to get over bank fees.

I have recently done a bank transfer via Transfer Wise when the pound hit 1.20+ euro.  No fees were charged by Bankinter.  I probably won't do any more for six months now.

Hi Geoffro,

Many thanks for your reply, my husband is emailing Global Currency to try and get to the bottom of this.  May I ask,  are you a resident and do you have to pay a fee with Transfer Wise?  As I have previously stated we have been with these companies a long time. FYI we are non resident.

Many thanks.

Hi Again.

Yes, I'm resident.  You do pay a small fee to Transfer Wise but you get the true market rate.Very transparent.

Sorry to be a bit late to the game on this one, but I also use Transferwise and I am not a resident and I have never been charged.   A lot of my friends out in Spain use this service and I for one must say that they are brilliant.   When I transfer my money from the UK it is in my Spanish account within 7 seconds.  Great service and usually the best rate out there.

Bonjour
