Hi Everyone,

I was rather floundering in the dark when I bought my quad villa last year and made the mistake of appointing a lawyer I had heard talk at a recent 'Place in the Sun Exhibition'. I so much appreciate all the help I got from this site. I really could not have bought the house without it. I'd appointed the lawyer by then though and I was finally able to complete last October.

One of the many problems was that they are based in Malaga. I've now changed my lawyer. However they still hold my Power of Attorney. Could anyone advise on how I can retrieve this please?

Julie

Hi Julie,

I hope you're well and enjoying your villa.

You would need to take a copy of the POA you want to revoke to a notary in Spain and then advise the lawyer in Malaga that you've revoked the POA.  It doesn't take long to prepare the document for you to sign, but probably best to make an appointment first.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim

It's so nice to hear from you. I'm very much enjoying the villa and it's now feeling like my second home. I felt I wasn't ready to come back to the uk last time I was in Spain. I'm planning to return in January. Thanks so much for your encouragement to buy the villa. I wouldn't have gone ahead without your help. My daughter loved the house when she saw it in June too.

Thanks for the info re the POA. It sounds a little complicated to revoke but certainly something I want to do. I think the lawyers in Malaga are generally trustworthy but not very competent. I was afraid they were crooks for a while lol.

Take care

Julie
