Depending on the amount of water needed for human use buying bottled water can ewsault cheaper.

Buying bottled water just adds exponentially to the plastic mountain that's decimating our planet.

If you just want filtered water, try the Phillips tap-mounted filter. No, it doesn't remove many dissolved solids, but it DOES remove chlorine because the water tastes so much better. 30 euros well spent IMO.

If water hardness is your issue, a filter won't do it. You'll need a softener with a separate drinking water supply.

Hope you find a solution that works for you.

Thanks very much. Perhaps the 'tank' I saw was just a very large filter. It took up half my neighbour's undersink cupboard though!

This sounds like a reverse osmosis system. This system will give you nearly pure water and will remove the minerals associated with "hard water". We have one and are very happy with it, no more furred kettle and the tea tastes great.

You can get them from the likes of Leroy Merlin or Amazon.es

Hi,

We recently changed from the ‘tank’ under the sink system, to the small filters on the wall on the advice of our plumber, who we trust. He told us that our old steam although effective was using too much water uneccessary and the new systems were much more efficient with a filter that needed changing around every year which was around 25€ .. we now have a lot of space in the cupboard under the sink which is useful in a small kitchen and we are very happy with the new system..hope that helps (as you say 150€)

The tank is a pressure vessel. Just helps with the flow of water through the small tap.

Thanks very much. Have just agreed an installation for two weeks' time, for the small filters as you mention.

Many thanks

Julie

Hi Juzal

We had a water filter fitted under our sink, over a year ago. We did the maths and it works out cheaper in the long run to have filtered water rather than buy bottled water. Our water filter is under the sink and has 3 separate filters before the water is released from a small separate tap fitted to our sink. We have to change the filters every 2yrs, so haven't done this yet and don't know the cost. Fitted, the system was 170 euros

We think it is one of the best items we have bought for our home in Spain, so convenient and definitely better than bottled water.  Particularly as the best bottled water we could find still made the bottle of our kettle fur up, and every 3wks we needed to give our kettle a clean. With this filtered water, we haven't had to clean the bottom of our kettle once yet. We therefore think the filtered water is healthier for us

Here is a picture of our system if that helps

Hi Sue,

Could I have the name of the people who installed or sold you this filter system?I live in the Villena campo so I guess that not everyone would come out to me. If I know the name of the manufacturer I might get more joy.

I actually have agricultural water but use mineral water for making tea, squash, etc. Someone did say that not all filter systems work on agricultural water so I am hoping someone on the forum can enlighten me!!

Getting drinking water to my house is relatively easy but once it gets to my gate it becomes complicated & involves lots of hole-digging which I really cannot face after nearly 3 years of work (mostly by incompetent tradesmen🤦🏼‍♀️) !

Hopefully a filter system might be a more inexpensive and less problematic solution 😊

Janice

Hi Janice

I am sorry I don't have the name of the plumber to hand, as we are in UK and my receipts for the water filter are in my home in Spain

I have uploaded the contact details for a plumber who moved our air conditioning unit from the ground floor to the first floor (for aesthetic reasons) and he was fantastic. I note he does plumbing work, so may fit filters. He is Spanish and speaks little English, so there may be a challenge for you there.

I took a photo of his van because I was so impressed with his workmanship. I have uploaded this photo for you, in case it is a help
