Not really sure, but have seen locally starting price around 400 Euro = single hot and cold unit, installation included? Another point is the properties electric supply, is it powerful enough for maybe what you want re wattage/installation/wiring, so do your homework and hopefully others will put you/me right. Good luck and stay safe and healthy.

Thank you very much for your reply didn't think about the wattage and the electricity supply the property is in Laguna 2 so I don't if anyone on here would know about the properties in this area if suitable for air con as I am surprised it not fitted after 15 years

Few properties have <3.4kw potencia.

We have 3.4kw (although we plan to increase this). With 3.4kw we can run a pool pump (1.4kw), the usual appliances and 3 a/c units. Hot water/heating is gas. The hob is gas and the oven is electric.

But we have to be careful to pick and choose when we run things.

We can't use all 3 a/c units concurrently with anything else substantial running.

If you buy the modern inverter units, they have "soft start" technology, so they are less likely to pop the supply.

A single a/c will cost 450 Eu - 900 Eu depending on the brand/quality and ease of fitting.

Sometimes owners won't go to the expense of fitting aircon if they just use the property for one or two holidays a year.

In the summer months I see some locals here with seats on the pavement waiting for cooler air because they can't afford aircon.

My advice would be to fit the best you can afford as it's a one time investment.

Kind regards, Steve

To check the wattage in the property look on a bill under datos del contrato about half way down for potencia contratada the numbers along side represent the wattage you have coming into the property ours is 5.75W we have a 2 bedroom apartment.

The downside is the higher the potencia contratada the higher your standing charge will be plus if you need to up the wattage you will need an electrician to confirm your system could take the extra wattage and of course there is a charge for that.

You tend to find Properties that have been used as holiday homes have a lower wattage as there will be less usage of the electrical items such as cookers, etc.

I agree with the comment about buying the best aircon you can afford, you wont regret it, and get them regularly serviced.

We replaced the old air con units with new LG units when we purchased our property 2 years ago. We went for the best we could find. To be honest we rarely use air con in summer , preferring to use ceiling fans which we have had installed in each room.  But in winter the air con is an effective and economical source of heat.
