Hi,

I'm new to this forum and looking for some advice on an area myself and my wife are looking to buy a holiday home, eventually retirement home.

The house is off calle Niagara treet and situated in between the calle Niagra and the orange padel / Citrus centre and is in the Residentia Jumilla complex.

Can anybody advise if this is a nice area? Safe area? The road is not gated, although there are 2 well maintained pools in the complex.

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Keith

First things first,

Do you have an EU passport? This allows you to stay up to 183 days without becoming a Spanish tax payer and will allow you to retire to Spain (albeit with some conditions like insurance (at least for 1st year if retired, and proof of funds to make sure you do not become a burden on Spanish system)

If your passport is UK or other 3rd country then you are limited to a max of 90 days out of every 180 (rolling) and cannot retire to Spain without having the appropriate visa

That's really encouraging, we are sale agreed and about to have house reserved so hopefully all works out.

Sorry to ask again, but with house not being in a gated community but with having security grills etc, in your opinion is this generally OK if leaving house locked up for 2 months at a time ?

Just to add to this information.

Irish and all other EU citizens, who want to reside in Spain for more than three months have to apply for a Certificate of Registration in the Oficina de Extranjeros (Foreigners Office) or if there is none in your region, at designated police stations. A list of Foreigners Offices is available on the website of the Dependencias. Sitio web de la Policía Nacional España (policia.es).

The following link will take you to a plethora of information specifically for Irish Nationals supplied by the Embassy of Ireland, Madrid:

Hi

I live nearby, a few metres from the Saturday market. It's a lovely area to live in. Just be sensible about security - same as anywhere else in the world! It's a good idea to employ a key-holder to attend to any issues when you're out of the country.

btw - having security grills on your windows gives you the option of leaving them open on hot nights!

Cheers

Steve
