Hi Everyone,

Can anyone advise me please.  I heard today from the Community Administratores that my next door neighbours in Spain are planning to add an extra room at the upper level to their quad villa. My neighbours in the UK completed a loft extension just 2 weeks ago and I'm well aware of the huge disruption this causes.  In order to carry out the work here they needed to pay for a Party Wall Award this ensured my property was protected from any damage.  Can anyone advise please if there is anything similar in Spain?

The email from the Administratores just stated that in order to carry out the work my neighbours needed my Authorisation.  I don't have any contact with my neighbours on that side of the property but I'm told their Spanish. The front yard is completely fenced off the only one I've seen like that.  I've not had any contact with them since I bought the house last October.

I'd be grateful for any advice. Especially as I'm frequently in the UK.

Thanks again.

Julie

Hi Julie, I hope that you are well. If you are coming over in September, I would tell them that you want to see in person exactly what they would like to build there. It may just be glass which would give you more privacy. Your administrators are in Playa Flamenca, and I can take you to see them if you want. Most works here are not structural but if you are not happy and say no, then they will not be allowed to proceed. Just reply with your concerns and tell them you need full details before giving your decision. Best regards.

Hi Pete

Thanks for your reply.

I'm a bit concerned about just saying 'no' as I'm often in the UK. I'm hoping that they are just planning to extend the shower room into a bathroom which shouldn't effect me too much. I've emailed them to say I'd like to see the plans when I come in October.

Thanks again for your help.

Julie
