Not sure about that email in terms of setting the tone. Quick intro and then asking for deposit.
Have they called you/ or you them or sent their service offering and costings?
In fairness it's easy to rush and try and play catch-up but you should really have selected your independent lawyer before now and done so either on recommendation or through your own analysis of information in the public domain; forums, magazines etc.
Early in our planning stage we lined up Abaco in Torrevieja, https://www.abacoadvisers.com/ , after asking on here and receiving good recommendations, Abaco will assign an English speaking case handler. We then ask for some cost and service profiles based on the from and to values of property we were looking at.
Sun Lawyers were used by our neighbours and they have been happy with them.
Once you are happy with your Lawyer you can then back away from asking too many in the detail questions on here regarding the process because you will likely be in safe hands.
Maybe you need to apply the brakes a bit and take a breath rather than seemingly being reactive and on the back foot all the time?

Hi Nigella,
It's disappointing that Sun Lawyers have written their letter in a way that implies the estate agents have introduced you as a client, rather than you contacting Sun Lawyers independently. By positioning the introduction that way, they've effectively lost your business. I would send them a polite response, saying that you wish to appoint an abogado (lawyer) who is independent of the estate agent.
By the way, I have also used Abaco Advisers and would recommend them.
Kind regards,
Kim

Much of the advice I took came from you and a few other regular posters or ex members. Good advice for me all went smoothly and to plan.

I fully agree with craig 245t. Did you authorize Maria/Costa Blanca Sales to pass your pesonal data to Javier Pastor (or anyone else at her discretion)? Who is he? I would mistrust anyone who asks for money without knowing him personally. How does he dare to ask for money w/o specifying what exactly you will receive. I would write him a letter formally reuqesting immediare cancellation of my personal data from his files and disclosure of any possible third parties he might have passed on my data. This is an offense subject to prosecution. That Javier will obviously trap you. "..To act your you behalf" reuqires a POA and before talking about money he should have mentioned this. Better stay away.
