Squatters - What Now Folks ? ? ? - Rejected petition Warn British Spanish Property Owners Of Favourable Squatter Laws

Advise them that the current laws in Spain provide squatters a legal way to take ownership of your property and belongings. If your property is unoccupied (even for a short time),they can break in, change the locks, and also call the Police to claim 'adverse possession' of your property.

We support you keith and Richard, fabulous that your standing up to the government and not just for yourselves but for us all, everyone with a property here should sign this, I think you are marvellous keith,   " power to the people !! " it's been absolutely horrendous for you and your family to be subjected to this for so long, personally I think the spanish government appear to be  only concerned  in how much revenue  they gain from.holiday  rentals, house purchases , inheritance tax, property alterations, etc etc and  they might as well just say to people  arriving here " hey dont bother renting or buying a property, why not just break into someones house, use their electricity  and gas and hey ho what a fabulous  time you can have here   some posters on here seem to remark  " if you dont like it then go back to where you came from " spain is in the 21st century  and has to adapt like every where and thank god for individuals like keith and his brother  who dare to challenge  the status quo

Hi Carlos,

I may have misunderstood your post, but you make it sound like Spanish people aren't subject to the country's tax laws and victims of the biased squatter laws?  🤔

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi kim.no not biased at all I refer to anyone Spanish dutch english etc  regardless of nationality for any one to find themselves in this horrendous situation is outrageous and I one hundred percent support keith  and his family or any other family who find themselves in this situation, something should be done to stop this from happening, could happen to any of us, even if we go away for a weekend, the spanish police themselves are so frustrated as they are often stuck in the middle of it all.because the law is mostly on the side of the squatter, can we all support keith and his cause regardless of where we are from ?

Waste of time signing a UK petition. UK is not even in EU now.  Have a look at  FueraOkupas.

It's Not a waste of time if people are selling or not buying or renting here, or spending their money here due to squatters.

Agents and other retailers lose business, less money for all and the spanish taxman etc.... BAD PRESS for all Europeans

Maybe a little pressure from the UK Government ? Etc

Many thanks Carlos ,Annie and everyone else for your support.

At least the petition is a start to make the situation more widely publicised to those who are unaware of the nightmare that could happen at any moment (even popping out shopping ).

Example

Check out the 2 ladies in the twitter photo below (click on the photo for full image). The top one is the squatter who occupied the lady's home below when she had a hospital appointment (leaving her homeless outside her own home).

Hi All

Just received this message so try again in a few days if they decide to publish it.

-----------------------------------------------------

We’re checking this petition

5 people have already supported Keith petition.

We need to check it meets the petition standards before we publish it.

Please try again in a few days

I get the feeling that they will reject it but if they do , I'll try and find another way.

I may have to word it differently like:

Warn British Spanish Property Owners About Current Laws That Favour Squatters
