Can I use my EHIC at this clinic or is it private. Should I use Centro de Salad instead. Have tried phoning but no one answers so do I just turn up?

I think you’ll find all medical centre are only dealing with emergency cases at the moment.

Thank you RobScot. Yes I can understand that but my Asthma & BP meds run out in a couple of weeks and if flights are cancelled will have to get them here. Only other alternative is to get my daughter to post them from UK, usually it takes 10 working days, but not sure now with the lockdown etc.

You can use your EHIC card. If you have the original Uk prescription and explain your case they’ll rewrite it in Spanish for you. If not get your UK doctor or family to email it to you.I visited the Clinic in La Siesta last Monday without any appointment and it was very quiet. I gave them the Prescription and it was rewritten to Spanish format but I had to go back 2 days later to collect it. They’re very good there.

You can buy Salbutamol, Becotide and Prednisona at the pharmacies. One of each of the above would cost around €10 total.

Hi Janet,

Since Spain was put into 'lockdown' on Sunday, no-one is supposed to be visiting health centres, even those with a prior appointment.  Non-urgent appointments are being cancelled and those people who need repeat prescriptions have to phone their GP or medical centre, who will arrange for the prescription to be available at the pharmacy.  In your situation, I would follow Paolo's advice and go to a pharmacy for over-the-counter medication.  You may well find that what you need a prescription for in the UK is available without prescription in Spain.  Take your EHIC and passport with you.

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks guys. I will get copy prescription from my UK doctor emailed over. As you say I can probably buy them here, but with a Spanish doctors one, I think I get a discount. Great advice. 😊

You don’t need a copy prescription from the UK, you only get a discount if you are a pensioner and not sure it applies if you are non resident.

Well, I do have a residencia card as we live here for 6 months over the year, basically three weeks in Spain and about 10 days in UK, or at least it we were, before Covid!
