We took out private medical insurance several years ago. Mine is through Asssa and when I joined it was an offer of "the age you join is the age you stay" i.e. no price increases for your age, only inflation. I was early 50's then and I pay 110euros a month now. They have different levels of cover as well. My husband is with Sanitas and has yearly increases due to his age (he is 63) and currently pays 293euros every quarter, and 12euros co-payments. Obviously with private insurance they exclude pre-existing conditions. I have had breast cancer and Sanitas would not even insure me, hence my husband and I having different providers. You can get quotes online, or suggest Jennifer Cunningham for a quote for Asssa. Hope this helps

Hello I am sorry if anyone feels they were mislead. We have now opened an office in Playa Flamenca and if they want to explain to us the situation we will try to make sure this does not happen again. PM me for our contact details.

I have to say that I have been with Asssa for at least 10 years now and I have never had a problem or been let down by them. The only irritating factor is that you have to get permission for every consultants' appointment that you want. (it doesn't actually take more than a day to get though). It is just that compared to Sanitas, who my husband is with, he can make the appointment himself if he knows which consultant he needs to see. I initially took my policy out through Jennifer Cunningham in Mojacar.

Les, sorry but you're wrong. It's only when you're in receipt of the UK state retirement pension and have an S1 to transfer your health cover to Spain that you don't need PHI. The OP clearly states that they're in their 50s and so will have to have an acceptable form of PHI.

Stay well clear from ASSSA they missold us nearly 4000 Euro of unneeded health care shocking we are 2 grandparents bringing up our 5 year old grandchild in Spain...they should be banned ...
You shouldn’t pay more than 1600 Euro for 2 adults ...
