I bought my house in 2020 just before the pandemic started. As I have a mortgage the insurance was automatic and turned out I really needed it as my house was flooded and all my furniture damaged. Mapfre were brilliant, they sent a plumber straight away and then the assessor was appointed almost immediately. They cleared out all the furniture, dealt with the leak, decorated and have visited several times to ensure it's all ok. I am in the UK and only went out last September, I have never met the assessor. They have a dedicated phone line for English speakers and I have been paid out for the furniture damage.
I was very pleasantly surprised by their efficiency and dedication to solve the problem. I have to wait to get out their again to look at the workmanship but they did what was needed and so far were very effective. The assessor and I communicated by whatsapp and he was very professional, prompt and efficient. We used google translate a lot!!
They have an office in Playa Flamenca too so you can also visit in person once there. My insurance didn't go up by that much this year which was just under 400 Euro. There may be more competitive insurance companies but I will stick with them for the time being.
