Forget it!  Unless you have an exceptional ability and speak other languages then you will never speak conversational Spanish.  The best that you will achieve is the ability to answer the phone....

I speak from experience.

Kind regards

Richard

There are classes starting on Monday 14th January at 3.30 in Argento's Bar in La Zenia, located just off the N332 as you drive from Cabo Roig towards La Zenia.

Richard's advice to forget it is completely wrong. Certainly conversational Spanish is difficult to achieve, but learning basic Spanish so that you can make yourself understood is not.

Also, having basic Spanish can be a big advantage in certain situations when English just won't get you through.

You'll also find that once you have some basic Spanish and use it at the beginning of a conversation a Spanish official will speak back to you in English because you made the effort, whereas if you start a conversation with "Do you speak English?" the next word you often hear is "no", making the conversation much more difficult for you than it might have been.

So my advice is take some lessons, you might amaze yourself.

Good Morning

Get the Dualingo App it's free. I'm starting to understand a lot more words and put a few sentences together.

Don't listen to unhelpful comments

Good luck

Of course you can learn Spanish, the level you can achieve may vary but it is good fun and very worthwhile. I am 66, was rubbish at languages at school and am surprised and pleased with the progress i am making. I would recommend a class as it's a good way to meet people. Don't listen to Richard or people who say you don't need it because everyone speaks english. I wonder how those people would feel about someone living in England and making no attempt to learn english. DO IT and Good luck!
