Hi

My name is Cathy and  I am 59yrs old

I was a registered Nurse  and was managing and delivering lifestyle services etc  in the UK until March 2018.

I have worked in retail  and in the Hospitality industry , I was a  data inputter of health records within a university ,A receptionist in a Doctors surgey and was also  a professional singer.

I am looking for some part time work to suppliment my small NHS income and keep my brain active.

My downfall is that  unfortunatley I am unable to do any very physical work due to arthrititis in my knee and  I am even more embarrased to say I don't speak spanish.

Hopefully  I will learn some basic spanish in the future

I would be happy to do some training in admin work /Reception work or  customer service work for any english speaking firms.

Please do not comment on the fact I am unable to speak spanish as I am very much aware that speaking the language would be a great advantage and an even greater disadvantage by not speaking it.

I would really appreciate feedback on what might be available and not what is not available due to my  ignorance in coming to a forigen country and not speaking the language.

I have access to transport but do not currently drive.

We have lived here for nine months and i feel it would be really good to restart  work as I have another possible ten years of work in me.

Thanks

Cathy☺

Dear Cathy, perhaps it's not what you are after, but the only thing coming to my mind is  "Iceland" in Torrevieja - Phone 965 70 61 51. Maybe they need someone in their office.  Lots o'luck.

Hello Cathy firstly what annoys me you should have had your state pension at 60 ... I am 60 and moved over here last year with my husband...

I would suggest quiron administration private hospital where there are lots of nurses and receptionists ....Also there are a number of small clinics around as their is know NHS as such ...

I went blind in one eye as I had a small stroke so I went for lots of tests in different small clinics ...

Also there are 2 international schools that come to mind and they want English speaking staff as teaching assistants or reception ..one is el Limona the other is Phoenix there are more ....

Also a large insurance company which deals with everything regarding paperwork which the Spanish like stamped and written in triplicate ....They are called Abaco ...

Please don’t be insulted when I say the cleaners in the bank and large companies similar seem to be very happy and it is not heavy work ....and all part time ..

If you ever want to learn the basic Spanish the town hall does them for free 😊

Hope this helps as you are a very educated lady ....

I love living in Spain it’s a very beautiful country ....

Thank you so much for your reply.

I appreciate the suggestions and will certainly look into them.

I dropped my registration two years ago as I did not need it to manage the lifestyle team and  these days you have to keep up with so many courses to maintain your registration I didn't have time to do many.

I am so sorry to hear you have some health problems but you sound a lovely positive person.

I agree with you on both points.

You should get your pension at 60 lol

And Spain is a beautiful country..

Take Care

Cathy😊😊

Ladies I am also 60 years old so like yourselves started work when women started to pay full national insurance and were expected to be paid the same rate as male colleagues. Having fought for decades for equal rights then that means equality i.e. we retire at the same age as men. I am sorry if this offends anyone but we cannot pick and choose the aspects of equality that suit us and as retirement age has now increased to 66 for all with further increases planned then obviously women cannot be paid earlier.

Planned not promised obviously the monies aren’t needed and fortunately I am also financially secure at 60 and can enjoy my golden years as promised though if I was depending on my state pension that would not be the case .... Others are not as fortunate as me and have to carry on working until they are 66 years old .... some not in the greatest of health .... And I believe in Scotland the pension will be the same at 66 as it was at 60 even although you pay in for another 6 years ... I stand corrected ...And finally I don’t think this is what is meant by equality... There are many things only a man can do and vice versa ....
