There are two men going round urbanisations today claiming they are from iberdrola! I watched them for around 20 minutes today before they came to my house. They have an extremely counterfeit identity badge on and have a plain clipboard with a cut out iberdrola badge stuck on the clipboard (this has been cut from a bill!) they are targeting anyone who apparently can’t speak Spanish and are claiming that one iberdrola bill from The householder is enough to secure a massive discount from iberdrola! They are taking bank account details and other personal details from the owners. On approach to my house he was caught unaware as I began conversing with him in Spanish, I asked him what he was canvassing for to which he replied “just doing market research” I asked to see his badge and he reluctantly showed me and then put it in his pocket! I questioned the authenticity of the badge and the fact that I had heard his conversations with neighbours regarding money saving and his feet hit the ground running! He did not go to any of the spanish homes, only British. Both men were around 5’9-5’10 stocky build, both Spanish and were both wearing short sleeved shirts and jeans. One of the men had a plain blue shirt and the other a red checked shirt. Please DO NOT sign up for anything. I have reported this to the police and they will be coming to my house later in the day for a statement. I hope as many of you as possible read this. Nicola :-)

Just to add also, I called iberdrola and they knew nothing about this!

I have been caught by the Iberola scammers operating in Perla Del Mar, Playa Flamenca. I need to contact the Police but am now back in UK. Can anyone provide contact details for an English speaking official? 11/11/17

I gave a statement when the police came to visit me last week. I wasn’t scammed by them, just wanted to report them. I’m afraid if you don’t speak Spanish you will need a translator David as the police here don’t speak English. Nicola :-)

Great advice.

We had someone in Pego a few weeks ago, who was trying the same scam with us. I guess he lost interest when we told him we didn't speak Spanish and we were not showing any interest in his offers.

Sounded fishy right from the word 'go'. Just be careful not to get suckered.

If there are any deals offered to you at the door, decline and then check at with your service provider office for clarification.

I sat and watched them for quite a while lesley before I realised what they were up to. Absolutely no shame at all. There are numerous “operatives” in the areas of la zenia, playa flamenca etc and they need to be stopped. I gave the police a statement to which they were extremely grateful as they were finding it quite difficult to catch the elusive doorstep fraudsters. Iberdrola have also been updated by the police. Just do not trust people that come to your door claiming they can give you massive discounts! Iberdrola would do this themselves by letter and would not send vagrants! Please be careful. Nicola :-)
