Good evening,

My name is David and I live in Scotland. I was at my appartment at Calle Azafrán at El Barranco, Villamartin last week and had to return home today. Last night there was a break-in at my appartment - someone managed to get the front room widow open during the night and managed to remove my computer bag from the house through the grill. I discovered the bag outside this morning and at first thought nothing was missing- however I realise now that some of my papers are missing (nothing too important, QR codes etc) but also my car keys for my car in the UK. It is a Jeep Renegade and I think the robber probably thought the keys were for my neighbours car in Calle Azafrán (also a Jeep Renegade - the keys are clearly marked Jeep).

The president of the community said that I should report the theft.

Hello David

It is always terrible to hear of a break-in or robbery of any kind.

Thank you for posting as it makes others in your area aware of issues that have been taking place. It reminds me of what appeared to be a targetted campaign in Hondon de los Frailes a year or so ago, people posting on the local FB page made people think more.

I have been busy installing after an increase in the interest for CCTV and alarms in the area again, which I believe is following the 'return' of the people with holiday homes.

As mentioned in another reply, increasing the amount of deterrents and reducing the chances for the opportunists is always a good approach, but I appreciate is not helping you following your incident.

For you (or anyone else for that matter) who is able to use a drill, here is an excellent deterrent that you can buy on amazon.es (I am NOT the seller, I am not on commission and I am not being paid to refer!) https://www.amazon.es/objetivo-intermitente-impermeable-interior-exterior/dp/B089S2M7KS/ref=dp_fod_3?pd_rd_i=B089S2M7KS&psc=1&tag=cstareg0f-21

I have installed a few of these for clients who are unable to fit themselves and they look great. I would recommend you do NOT leave the flashing LED on... this is a bit of a giveaway.

Please take the advice given and report it to the police.

Hope it helps
