Thanks.

Hi Sheila.

What it is is easy; it's a refund of tax overpaid.

What isn't easy is why it's happened.

The only time I've come across a low value refund is when I've done a tax return for someone who doesn't have to pay tax, but has a savings account here on which the bank deducts tax on the interest. When the tax return goes in, in the April to June period, the tax deducted by the bank is refunded very shortly after the return goes in.

Why you should get a refund at this time of the year I just don't know.

Thanks Jim. I have just checked Alan's tax return, and -3.01€ is the bottom figure. As you say it must be a refund on the tax deducted from interest on our joint bank account. It's a good job we weren't waiting for it, ha ha.

Wishing you a very Happy New Year, with many thanks for all your posts.

Regards,

Sheila

And to you  both, Sheila. As far as Hacienda are concerned, it's better to receive than to give!
