Hi I pay my Suma bills via wise on a direct debit unfortunately for the one this month I hadn’t transferred enough money to cover October bill I am in UK and will not be in Spain anytime soon Any advice on how to rectify this would be greatly appreciated.
Pay it online. SUMA. You can get your reference number from any IBI bill. Or you can pay it by the helpline number 965 292 000.

It's not something I've experience of but most of their documentation suggests they (SUMA) would notify you of a failed DD although if that is via a letter to the property, it is unlikely to help if you are not there. It doesn't seem to suggest that they will attempt a re-raise on the DD.
I have had cause to contact them previously so you can email them here [email protected] to clarify - I have done previously and had responses.
If you have a digital certificate etc, you should be able to pay it online anyway. (Am not sure if you can pay it without one if you also have the various references etc from their paperwork).

At Sabadell bank I think you can just top up your a/c and they will pay the bill
Is this a downside to wise?

It's nothing to do with Wise - it's the way direct debit works. They fail if there isn't sufficient funds in the account.
I'm guessing now - but I assume it's possible for bank apps to notify you if there are insufficient funds in an account when a DD is about to be taken (as DDs are raised a number of days before the money is taken) but that would de down to the functionality.
For example, in my First Direct app, a couple of days before the 1st month I can see what direct debits are about to go out on the 1st. However, I've not seen what happens if I didn't have sufficient funds to cover them as it has never arisen.

I know what you are saying but most banks don't allow you to go into an unauthorised overdraft and would stop the DD payment. Some may do but they'll likely charge you for the privilege and then charge you interest etc.
As soon as the payment is stopped, it isn't then within the gift of the bank to do anything as the re-raise of the DD is requested by the supplier not by the bank.
If you are saying that Sabadell allow you on the day that the DD is taken to put more money into the account so as to allow it to go through without going into an unauthorised overdraft then that would be additional functionality not allowed by Wise as far as I am aware. With Wise, unlike the point I made with First Direct, you don't get to see upcoming DDs showing in your statement so I think you'd need to know and put money in the day before.
But, I'm taking without experience of the exact situation and general knowledge of banking (having worked in the sector) so could be incorrect.

Have you got your current SUMA bill to get the reference from it to pay it online as the fixed period for paying is 13th October.
