Can anyone clarify if non resident tax in Spain has changed for non residents who live in a non EU country? ( ie. we live in UK )

The term 'Non resident' means exactly what it says. Everyone who is non resident in Spain but have property in Spain, are subject to taxation. Brexit had no affect on non resident tax. The following link may be of some use:

To Quote above, Brexit had no effect on non resident tax !!! Let’s just wait and see, let’s just be grateful it hasn’t increased (yet). Maybe that is what the OP was asking.

I've managed to find out that non residents from an EU country pay 19% tax and non residents from a non EU country(UK) pay 24% tax !!!!!

It’s far from scaremongering, let’s discuss this in a years time and see who is correct. I’m sure there will be many changes by then which will not be beneficial for me as a non resident.

This is reality as the UK is now classified as a third country. The rates you quote have always been the case and I suppose you can thank the Brexiters for that.

I recieved this from Abaco Solicitors in Torrevieja this morning.
This relates to non residence property tax.
Tax news update
The tax bands remain the same for the current year as of 2020:
- The tax is 19% for tax residents within the UE, Norway and Iceland and 24% for tax residents outside these areas.
- However, the tax base has been altered. Where there has been no revision in the rateable value of the property since 2010 the calculation will change from 1.1% to 2% of the rateable value.

Hi Avon,
Yes, it has changed. UK residents who own property in Spain used to pay non-resident tax at the rate of 19%; since Brexit, this has increased to 24%.
Kind regards,
Kim

I'm an Irish national living in UK. I had to pay extra this year, due my UK residency.
