Hi Everyone

I own a quad villa in Playa Flamenca but sadly I have not been able to get there for over a year. The house is empty and won't be used until October. I have health issues and was recently in hospital and the Pandemic has made flying impossible for me probably until October.

I notice that Iberdrola are taking an amount for standing order which last month increased to 21.77 euro. I was thinking of cancelling the a/c but wondered if this is an action I may regret at a later date. For example I may have difficulty reconnecting in October.

Can anyone please advise? Thanks for your help.

Julie

Hello

This question has arisen several times recently due to the pandemic situation.  The advice given is always that it would cost you more to pay for reconnection than the monthly  standing order that you now pay.

Hope that helps....

Cheers

The upstream fixed capital costs of supplying electricity (cables, transformers, generation capacity, etc.) don't go away just because a house isn't being used. If you stop paying, you increase the cost for everyone else.

Hence the costs of reconnecting temporary cutoffs are set high, as a disincentive.

Hi

I’m paying anything between €22 and €28 per month and have been for more than a year for a 2 bedroom apartment, I’m hoping to get out by the summer to enjoy.

Take care everyone.

Frank.

Hi Julie,

I to have a quad in Playa Flamenca and haven't managed to get over there in over a year.

I pay my iberdrola through bankinter direct debit but mine fluctuates. I have to keep it on for my pool pump however its still only 45 euros every 2 months..

A few years ago we had it cut off as we were in the UK for over 2 years without visiting. It was an absolute nightmare getting it reconnected.  I had to visit iberdrola in Pilar to sign every document under the sun, pay up front and still spent a week in the dark with candles.

Don't go down that route if you can help it or you may be in the dark in October.

Take care

Ali
