Hi guys, hoping someone can help. Just arrived at our apartment to find water and electricity turned off. Obviously must have missed a payment but does anyone have an English speaking helpline number for Iberdrola and or Hidragua?

Have a look in your post box, there might be some electricity and water bills there! They will have some relevant telephone contact numbers attached. But to be honest with Iberdrola I have never been able to speak to anyone or anything except a machine with a recorded message in Spanish. I really hope someone comes back with more constructive information for you. I have been in the same situation, but not due to not paying the bills, a problem with the smart meter. After checking into a hotel for a couple of days instead of using our own property I resorted to getting assistance from an electrician who could speak Spanish.

Iberdola have an APP, are you registered ?

There was an Iberdola shop/branch at La Zenia roundabout eg McDonald's. You should be able to find via Google

Hi

There's a Hidraqua office next to the town hall in Playa Flamenca - I'd be surprised if they don't speak English - but you may have to stand in the queue for a while. I suspect if you call a helpline it'll be located in Madrid, and it's anybody's guess if they'll speak English.

Cheers

Steve

Hydraqua 0034 911774 090

Listen to the opening message which of course is in Spanish and then you will be offered the option of being attended to in English.

OR

As Steve says, they do speak English in the Playa Flamenca office but I believe that they are still operating an appointment system, you can book here.

Can’t imagine you have been sitting since Thursday with no water or electricity, really hope not. How have you got on ?. I’m sure many would appreciate knowing how you managed to (hopefully you have by now) resolve the problems. It will help others that may find themselves in a similar situation. Hope all is fine now !.

Thanks guys, got sorted. Followed the advice above about Hidraqua phone line and managed to pay the missed bill over the phone. Water came back almost immediately.  Electricity was actually the trip switch , got that back too . Disaster averted, although I'll never leave food in the fridge again!

...gain!

Glad you got it sorted. It happened to us once with electricity, the freezer was left with a horrible smell, it might sound daft but scrunched up newspapers put into the freezer so that just about fills the freezer, absorbs the smell, leave for 24 hours and then dump the paper, do it a few times. Now, anything we leave in the freezer is left in sealed plastic containers, so that if it should happen again we can just remove the boxes without opening them, and dispose of them. Another good tip is to fill an egg cup full of water and freeze it in the freezer, place a coin on top of the ice and if it is still sitting on top of the ice when you return, your electricity has not been off for a serious length of time, and come back on again.
