Storms
Hi guys, have been watching the footage of storm damage and wondering if Playa Flamenca got hit at all? Wife and sister going over next week, hoping they'll be OK.

Hi
I live in PF - there's absolutely nothing to worry about, thankfully.
Cheers

Thousands of people have turned up to volunteer in Valencia. The organisers are asking people contact them so they can be organised.
However, they are telling people not to travel to the area by car as access roads are either collapsing or in danger of collapsing and vehicles arriving could hinder the work of the emergency services.
Many places are taking donations of non perishable food and water, blankets, warm clothing, baby food, pet food and blankets and so on as many people have been rescued with nothing but the clothes they stood up in.
Caixa bank is taking monetary donations if you use IBAN ES02 2100 8734 6113 0064 8236 to pay in. Local councils are also organising collection of items and the Red Cross (Cruz Roja) has set up a disaster fund to either pay for the fund or to assist animal shelters that have been affected,
I think it would be better not to travel to the area at the moment but assist in other ways. We have taken some things (blankets, coats, cardigans etc) to one of the bar collection points here in Quesada and the council will arrange collection and delivery.

Lots of the bars have started diverting funds to the appeal from what would have been entry fees to quizzes etc.
I've been at a number of places where that's happened in the last couple of days.
While it's likely all a drop in the ocean when compared to both the money released by government, it will at least go direct to the various charities (including the Cruz Roja) who are on site already supporting those impacted by these horrific events.

I'd just like to praise all the volunteers who are going to the area to help. How inspiring it has been this morning to see all the young people walking into the disaster areas carrying tools on their shoulders, ready to start working. Absolutely fantastic.
The requests not to travel to the affected areas have now become a legal obligation until at least midnight tomorrow night. Exceptions include emergency workers, those returning to habitual residences, assistance to health centres and care of minors and dependants.
The ban includes all vehicles that are not part of the rescue and emergency services, vital food distribution, energy suppliers and health workers.
The restrictions and areas will be posted in a general Valencian order today.
