Since moving to PUNTA Prima, we haven’t been able to get plain flour or self raising flour. I think the plain is most important as I’d like it for Yorkshire pudding. Also can I get English style sausage?

We don’t drive so needs to be local

You'll only find self-raising in a shop that stocks English items. All Spanish food shops sell plain flour - harina de trigo, and most sell packets of levadura (or levadura quimico), which is baking powder.

Hi Mercadona sell, plain flour and SR flour, in Mercadona the SR flour has a picture of cake on it, if a recipe says use baking powder I still do. As Jim said it’s harina de trigo for plain. Hope this helps 😎

As Anne indicates, there are various types of flour in the supermarkets, but we just buy the cheapest harina de trigo and add one teaspoon of baking powder to 125 g of flour. To give an example, a Victoria sponge made with that is every bit as light as one made with SR flour. And Margaret's Yorkshire puddings made with the plain flour are perfect, but they do come with a lot of swearing when she's pouring batter into smoking hot oil in the baking trays! Which reminds me that we're nearly out of crumpets, so I'll have to make some more.

Hi Jim

Thank you for that. These replies have all been so helpful. Being a ‘Yorkshire lass’ I need to know I can make my Yorkshire’s right!  I have yet to try them in my air fryer as we don’t have an oven in spain!

Hi just remember to sieve the flour, it always has bits in it and it’s not as fine as UK flour. I have no problem making Yorkshires, this whopper fed 8 of us 😱
