Having difficulty trying to open Wise bank account and leave Sabadell. Account details have been refused by broadband provider as it has IBAN starting GB. Could anyone advise how we get a EU IBAN as we are obviously missing something.

I go to "manage" then "accounts" an I can add a euro account or see my iban number.

One of the features of having a Wise account is that you can open accounts in 50 plus currencies, you need to open a Euro account, this will have an IBAN number beginning with BE, Wise' account is based in Belgium, hence the BE, this is widely accepted, you may get the odd supplier that is stuck in the past wanting to accept only Spanish accounts but by and large the BE IBAN will be accepted.
Have a look in your Wise account, your Sterling account will have the British flag, to the right hand side of this you will see another square with the word ' open ' on it, hit that and find the Euro account, easy to do.
Once you have your Euro account open click on the ' convert ' tab to fund the account from your Wise Sterling account, there will be small transaction fees but no monthly running costs as with your Sabadell account.
As for closing your Sabadell account, Spanish banks expect you to attend in person or at the very least appoint a Power of Attorney to close the account, having said this, I have read that a couple of our members did manage to close their Sabadell account from the UK over the phone...but wait until you have set up your direct debits from Wise.

Also, it may be obvious, but make sure you withdraw ALL your money from Sabadell before closing it. I made exactly the same move from Sabadell to Wise. I moved all my DD’s first, withdrew all my cash (or transfer it to Wise), then went into the branch at Cabo Roig to close it in person, just needed my passport. They didn’t try and charge me a partial quarterly charge.
