i recently lost my husband to the damn covid - we own a property - so obviously have to see the solicitors and the bank - because of the confusion surrounding overseas travel i decided to write to the spanish embassy here in the uk - i expalined the situation to them and i have it, be it via an  email, in writing that i can officially fly-only for a week - but at least i can           get the ball rolling. this is not a travel break i am looking forward too. I will have had   both jabs and a pcr test 72 hours before leaving the uk

Hi there

So sorry to hear of your loss. This virus is wreaking havoc and sadness for many, many people.

Please accept my condolences.

Back in 2014 I was in the same situation when I lost my wife.

I had a fantastic Solicitor at Solmed in Los Balcones, not too far from Punta Prima.

She dealt with all things Inheritance whilst I was still in the UK, only at the end of the process did I need to visit Spain for final signatures.

Of course you would have to give any Solicitor Power of Attorney but doing it this way may save you a journey and stress that you were not looking forward to.

If you did make the first trip would you be able to obtain permission for any second trip for the purpose of signatures?  Obviously the travel regulations at that particular point would, to a degree dictate this, but if the situation in a couple of months is still the same as it is now ??? Just a thought, maybe you have already covered this ?

Whatever you decide to do my thoughts and best wishes are with you.

Ken.

I hope the process goes well for you. Perhaps you are just changing the ownership details etc.? If you are selling I would advise going to a Swedish estate agent. Anybody from the U.K. now has go through a ‘Military check’ when buying in the Orihuela Costa, and this can take months. There are also many Swedish people here now. Although it is a sad time for you, I hope you are comforted by many happy memories when in Spain. Very best wishes.

My deepest condolences. I hope you manage to travel safely. It is a terrible time. My mother died in the uk last autumn and we couldn’t get back for her funeral. Kind regards, Sheila
