Hi All

I am from South Africa and would love to come out to stay.

Would like to get in touch with any South Africans who have gone through the process of coming out to costa blanco on an extended visa that is renewed at a police station in year 1 and then renewed for 2 years in year 2 before residency can be applied for to stay permanently.

I am also trying to understand the financial requirements to show that you can support yourself.

I was told:

year 1 euro 30000 plus 1 year healthcare paid in advance

year 2 and 3 euro 60000 not sure about healthcare requirements

Year 4 and 5 no idea

Also that after you have had your visa stamped at the police station you are then free to use your money and do not need to have it as a constant credit balance in your account.

The lawyer I have been using in Spain is also not sure and is trying to find out more.

If anyone has info to share I would be greatful as I am in the process of purchasing a property here and need to get a better understanding on all of this.

I have applied for my NIE no and received the number - document next week.

Hallo Edwina,

I am South African and on this forum.

Still in SA though and not yet in my beloved España.

I too would like to kow the answers to these questions.

I am of the Arangies family tree (no EU passport) and trying to come home.

Finding work is not so easy though.

Please keep me posted?

Kind regards Ané

Hi Edwina.

I am South African and will be moving back to Costa Blanca Spain in June. Our family have a villa in Denia so I will be there ... and I will then be applying through immigration lawyer for a residencia, via property ownership etc. My son was actually born in Spain in 1997.

Sorry, I dont know the answers to your questions, but there are "South Africans in Spain" Facebook Groups ... and the members answer these type of questions all the time. Here are a few of the Groups:-

South Africans in Madrid

South Africans in Southern Spain

South Africans in Gibraltar

.... and just do a search in the Facebook search bar. Im sure there are more groups.

Good luck and keep in touch.

Regards

Hi Lawrence

Thank you for the info, will go and lookout the links.

Are you immigrating financially from SA?

If so could you share who your immigration lawyers are?

I have a spanish lawyer who is trying to find out the information I need, but she also told me that in Spain it depends on which police station I go to - you cannot different requirements from different police stations and even more concerning you can get different requirements for 2 policeman at one police station.

Thank you for the email.

Kind regards,

Janine (Edwina)

Hi Edwina

I am only going over in June this year, but initially on a 3 month tourist visa . Once I am in Spain I will research the requirements specific to my situation, and may well still have to return to SA first, to complete the applications etc. I will only look for an immigration lawyer once I am there, and only if I need one. I may not need one if I can do a 'residencia' first, directly through the National or Foreign Police. Or maybe, if required, through the Spanish Embassy in SA. I'm not quite sure yet! .... etc etc.

You will surely find someone - on the "Spain/South African Facebook Groups - that will be able to advise you much better than I can, as there are many South Africans, on those groups, that are / have been in the exact same situation as you, and they would be able to advise you from "their own experiences".

I hope that helps.

Regards

Laurence

Hi Laurence

Thank you for your response. I am in Spain at present. I am dealing with a Spanish lawyer who is trying to find out info for me but they have been receiving conflicting information. The solicitor has a meeting with someone in a main Centre close to me to find out more info next week.

I have my NIE number and will receive the official documentation next week Wednesday.

I have been To the Spanish embassy in Pretoria, but the lady was very offhand and said get a normal visa go to Spain go to a police station and get them to stamp it for a year temporary residence, have 30k in your Spanish bank account and 1 yr health insurance paid in advance and then go back one year later and get it stamped for 2 years and show them you have 60k in your Spanish bank account.

It seemed too easy and maybe I am over thinking the situation.

However if you are a uk or eu citizen you need nine of the above you just move in and can work.

Regards

Edwina
