Are you UK passport holders and can you meet the financial and health insurance requirements?

Hi Darro - Yes we are UK passport holders and yes we can meet the health requirements but have different things regarding the financial requirements. Hubbie could keep his job in England and fly back every 2 weeks for his job with regards to myself i currently work at a hospital as an OT so would have to find work in Spain and also schools for the children who are 14 and 11.

I think you may have set yourself a very difficult task. You now need visas to come and live, let alone work in Spain. And they are not easy to get.

If you currently live and work in the UK but want to emigrate you will find it much easier to get accepted in Australia,NZ or Canada.

Given the circumstances outlined currently I do not know of a visa which would permit you to come and live in Spain.

OZ, NZ, and Canada are somewhat unrealistic destinations for a 2 week on/2 week off job in UK!

Hi Stacie,

If you want to live permanently and work in Spain you will need a work visa. To gain a work visa you will need to secure a job first and then your prospective employer will need to apply for a work visa from the Spanish consulate in the UK on your behalf.

All jobs available in Spain must be offered to an EU passport holders first, by law. So unless you have exceptional qualities required for a position which cannot be filled by an EU citizen it's unlikely that anything will be available for a UK passport holder.

For a family of 3 the income requirements will be around €41,000 per annum.
