holidays in N. Spain

Hi all,

After this summer's heat we as pensioners are suffering the heat as I expect most are.

We are thinking about getting away next year for about a month some where cooler which narrows it down to N Spain . We don't want to fly, mainly because of the current disruptions otherwise the canaries would be in the spotlight.

I just wondered if anyone else is escaping the heat to N Spain and can recommend a seaside town or village. San Sebastian might be interesting for a week.

Hi Tony, we regularly visit n. spain, san Sebastian is very good plenty of tapas bars and restaurants also good for shopping but hotels can be expensive, Sardinero which is just outside Santander is also a place that we visit, mainly hotels and restaurants but a beautiful beach and a 10 min drive into Santander we can recommend the Grand hotel! also Pamplona, Logrono and Zaragoza are all decent places to stay but choose hotels near the centres it is easier for walking, hope you have a good trip, cheers Martin

We used sometimes to stay in a small town on the north coast called Castro Urdiales. It had a very nice hotel and was a pleasant place to stay for a few days. Nothing much exciting to do, but pleasant to walk around and within driving distance of several interesting places

hi, I forgot to mention Zarautz just 10 mins outside of San Sebastion plenty of hotels and a nice flat promenade to walk, cheers Martin

Thanks for the advice, I like the sound of sardinero, and it's closeness to San sebastion .

Will also look at zarauts as well

Thanks for your town, it sounds just what we need, my partner is not good on hills and loves seafront promenides. Will have a look at it tonight.
