It would be reassuring to know if the antigen test is acceptable. If anyone flies to the U.K. maybe they could update the forum. My daughters are flying out on 11th and I don’t really want to pay for PCR if antigen ok. I know the guidance says ‘advised’ so assume it is just that but you nev...

I have just flown back (6th August) to the UK and the antigen is fine, I got mine from Clinica la Siesta.  Tel. 966784195, it was €50.  ([email protected])

The 2 Day test was £48 from RANDOX Health. www.randox.com

Hope this helps

Hi we got our antigen tests yesterday evening in Barcelona  ,we have ferry booked for noon on Wednesday  ,we paid 84 euros ,but the main point of this is for anyone like us driving .There were gendarmes at the border at Le Perthus  between Spain and France  ,not every car was stopped ,but we were and asked to show test results

You say you are a Doctor of Immunology yet your statement you have written about the accuracy of PCR and Antigen tests are the exact opposite of how accurate they are.

https://ec.europa.eu/research-and-innovation/en/horizon-magazine/pcr-antigen-and-antibody-five-things-know-about-coronavirus-tests

The PCR test is nearly 100% accurate whilst the antigen rapid test is far less accurate.

Also your statement about having a better survival rate by catching covid naturally and covid is as simple as the common cold are totally misleading. I suspect you are a covid denier, possibly a anti-vaxxer as well, just peddling mistruths about the severity of the covid virus, am I wrong?

Hi,

Two of my kids have just flown back to the UK (Sunday 8th August) they both had the Antigen test 48hrs before flying (€35) each and where accepted on Ryanair and at UK customs.

Thanks

That's probably the most expensive antigen test I've heard of it's almost double some I've heard of and ours were 30 euros but when you need something quick and convenient you don't have much choice.

Hi John,

the post was nothing to do with any comments about the government, it was just antivax drivel which is why it was deleted, presumably by Admin.

Aitch ,this is another example of mixed messaging from this government, because of their incompetence, ,they have left many things open to interpretation  ,so if things did go wrong they could say that's not what we meant ,If they want people to take the .more expensive PCR test why not come out and say that.instead of saying advising

What about the poor people who were on their way to Cancun in Mexicoand it was announced Mexicoto go on red list, hotel quarantine and price increased by £ 500 ,people then had to look for flights back on arrival  and no holiday ,there is absolutely no defence for these bunch of chancers

John,

my post has absolutely nothing to do about the points you mention above. The poster, supposedly a immunologist, had said that Antigen test were more reliable than PCR, that it was better to catch covid naturally and that covid was the same as catching the common cold. All of which are wrong.

My post was questioning those statements. Please read my post again and tell me exactly how you think the statements I made defend the UK government, or anyone else for that matter.

Aitch.
