Good morning, my last bill from Iberdrola was almost 40 euros (34 days). The electricity was turned off for all that period, I’m non resident.
I have got a favourable comparison from si compare for a company called energia gana , has anyone used this company and what do you think of them , also is there an ongoing contract with Iberdrola. I have been with them for over 20 years

Thank you

I have also had a LOT of problems with this company, now resolved.

Have  you written to their office?

If not, here are their contact details:

[email protected]

They also respond in 'English'.

Give it a go, hopefully this may work for you?

Good !uck...🅱️🏝

I think you'll find there is no ongoing contract with Iberdrola.

I have been with them for seven years. I am having solar panels installed soon and both contractors I have dealt with have told me it's my legal right to drop Iberdrola and switch to another company with no notice if I want to, to get a better deal.

40 euro for non use seems quite high. It would depend on the amount of power you are contracted to and if you are on any of their special tariffs. For a normal household the standing charge should only be around 23 to 25 euro a month. My bill is only around the 60 euro mark each month and that's a 3 bed semi living here on a permanent basis. (although more expensive this time of year with the aircon). We are on choose your own 8 hours for cheaper rates and we have 8 to 10am (when the washing machine and dishwasher is in use), 5 to 8 (for cooking and hot water on a timer) and 10 to midnight which is normally the aircon peak times. Night time power contract goes down to just 0.02 cents per kWh on that plan but IVA has just been put back to 21%.

You can change to any supplier you like but remember the standing charges will be similar although some can give a lower rate per kWh as they get discounts from the actual producers like Iberdrola and Endesa.

For starters, see what power you are contracted for A modern house should have 5.75Kw to avoid tripping. Then check the tariff and compare prices between day/night, pick your own 8 hours or fixed hourly rate and so on to see which one would suit you best.

Thank you for replying,I went into the office in Rojales last week and the guy in there just shrugged and said the bill is correct.I also discovered an appliance insurance thing on my bill  ,  l said I never asked for this, he implied it was part of the contract,he very reluctantly removed this when I asked . I’ve been paying it for over 20 years unknowingly

There are two types of insurance they automatically put on. One is if you lose your job and can't pay the bill which is a bit pointless for holiday home owners and us oldies. The second is for damage to electrical items which should be covered by your home insurance anyway. Checking the bills should flag these up (seguros) and I would suggest any of us should have them removed although one poster did mention her fridge/freezer packed in and Iberdrola paid 500 euro in very quick time. She didn't state if she'd tried with her home insurance, though.

Yes probably my fault , I never read the small print on the bills until someone flagged it up probably on this site

There was subsidies on the bills last year. These have now been removed so the prices have increased. Also the VAT has gone back to the normal rate.
