Medical Insurance Assa or DKV, who would you use ?
Assa or DKV, who would you use, we are looking at ASSA Standard or DKV Elite Permium Classic, with a small co-payment.
Any thoughts welcome the cost if very similar, living near Los Alcazares

If you are taking out private health insurance for the purpose of applying for residency then co-payments are not allowed, no matter how small.
ASSA gets good reviews for service and cost though I don't personally use it.

Super helpful member
My partner and I have been with DKV for over 5 years with no issues even though we have full access to public healthcare.
As someone else has already mentioned if you are considering private medical insurance for visa purposes there cannot be co-payments.
"Health insurance. Original and a copy of the certificate accrediting the public or private health insurance with no co-pay (or deductible) contracted with an insurance entity authorized to operate in Spain. The insurance policy must be valid for 1 year and must cover all the beneficiaries of the visa for the risks insured by Spain's public health system. No travel insurances with medical assistance coverage will be accepted."
When you have been officially resident in Spain for at least one year you may apply to join the Convenio Especial. The Convenio Especial is a voluntary healthcare program that allows individuals to access Spain’s public healthcare system for a monthly fee. It is ideal for non-EU citizens who are not employed in Spain and, therefore, not contributing to the Social Security system, which is the standard route for residents to access public healthcare. If you’re under 65 years old, it’s €60 per month. If you’re 65 or over, it’s €157 per month. However, you will still have to meet the cost of prescriptions.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, it was very informative. May I wish you well
I have used ASSSA for the past 3 years and will continue to use them. They offer a good service and respond very quickly if I call them about anything.
