Hi all,me and my family are saving up to make our move in January 2026,I know a little while away yet but we will have children aged 5 and 8 when we do move,we would love to put them into a Spanish school and I have researched one to rojales.

Can anyone tell me about school waiting lists and how far in advance I would have to register my interest to the school and how I go about it,any advice will be extremely appreciated.

Thanks Jayne.

Your issue can become nightmare. Places are limited but public schools must admit chuildren living withyin their respective ares. Registering must be done long before classe begin. Education level is discouraging and your kids will have a real bad time. Better look out for private multilingual institutions.

Oh gosh, the kids having a bad time doesn’t sound good :( and the multi lingual schools are very expensive, aren’t they?

Thank you for your reply

Jayne.

I was paying over £12.000 a year for a private school and that was over 20 years ago.

Hi,this is why I was hoping they could integrate into a local community and a Spanish school to help with the cost for us.
Thank you for your reply.

I must admit, that comment from killjoy really upset me yesterday, all I want is to give my children a better way of life because here in Manchester it is scary what can happen on the streets to our youngsters but hearing they might have a horrible time in Spain integrating into the community, then I don’t know what to do.

Thank you for your replies Steve

I think you are misinterpreting. Your children are highly unlikely to have a miserable time integrating. They will of course find it difficult at first but will soon pick up the language and make friends. However, I understand that the Spanish educational system is very different to uk, although cannot speak from experience.

They are still young enough not to worry too much about their education being interrupted, were they much older then it may not be a good idea.

Just ignore his idiotic comments Jayne, I’m sure there are countless families on this forum who will be happy to tell you how good the schooling system is/was for them.

They'll be fine. You have 5 years in which to learn Spanish before you come here to live.

Rules change all the time but generally you should visit the school before the end of the previous term and hand in the paperwork. You'll be coming over to find a property before that so speak to local parents in the area in which you settle and they'll help you, as will the Town Hall or the agent you buy property from. State schools are area based so you don't really pick the one you want unless you choose private education.
