I need healthcare insurance for my application for a non lucrative visa. Does anyone have any suggestions for a 79 year old woman. Is it cheaper to pay annually or monthly or can I even put down a one time lump  sum for life. I would like also to know the sequence of actions required to make it quick and easy.

If you are applying for an NLV and you are aged 79 you don't need private health insurance if you are retired and in receipt of a state pension as a European (including UK) you can apply for an S1 certificate which transfers your healthcare to the Spanish health service and is accepted as meeting the requirements for healthcare.

However, if you aren't European and US or Canada or whatever, then ASSSA healthcare, along with others, get recommended and will meet the necessary requirements which is private health cover with no pre payments. The advantage of the S1 is that it covers pre-existing conditions and gives you reduces prices for prescription medication. As far as I know they take payments on an annual basis. Some will allow you to pay monthly but the whole year will be charged even if you stop the cover.
