Looking for a job: Makeup Artist Available

Hi everyone, my name is Roy from Ireland and I moved to Spain in December. My plan was a short settle in and then look to make people beautiful with my make up skills but COVID19 sent me into isolation as with so many.

Months have passed and it’s time to move out of isolation carefully and safely and I’m looking to help people look fabulous with my make up artistry.

I have nearly 15 years experience working with major brands, countless weddings and I have worked on many photoshoots across the world with some well known photographers.

If any of you wonderful people know of anyone looking for a make up artist please DM me.

Fabulous as you sound, Roy, with that very exclusive set of skills and experience, you may do better in the large cities - ie Madrid/Barcelona/Valencia etc where there may be more possibilities.

There are of course, Beauty Salons around and about, to whom you could apply for recommendations.

If you were intending to work independently, you will need to register as ‘autonomo’ (self-employed) which immediately means. Registration with the Tax Office and Social Security contributions - which would, however, cover you for medical care. You will also need a gestor to take care of your monthly financial returns and payments, which are due whether or not you have any income for the period; albeit there is a reduction in the amount for the first 6 months. You would be unlikely to obtain a ‘job’ with a contract as employing people is very expensive here.

Bear in mind that many of the people here are retired and not necessarily the ‘wealthy’ retired, especially amongst the UK contingent; whether or not this age group uses your skills, I don’t know - but can tell you from personal experience that the wearing of full slap in the heat is not the norm, it’s too uncomfortable!!!!!!

There may be the call for weddings etc or the occasional party, but think you would do better contacting model agencies in the main cities.

Thank you so much for the helpful advice, you are very good taking the time to give me the advice. My lawyer already dealing with the registration/tax case.

Regarding with the bigger cities for better opportunity. I worked extensively in Madrid and Barcelona whilst living in Ireland. This is the reason why I choice to living in a quieter part of Spain, which I am really enjoying, apart from the COVID and all the COVID brings.

Hi Roy, I have a Swedish friend who is also a makeup artist I know she is setting up some gigs with Germans and Scandinavians not sure if you want to work with someone but I can put you in touch if you like, see if you can come up with ideas.
