We are trying to register with Health Center but have now been told we have to get a number from the above. We are finding it difficult to make an appointment to do this.

You do indeed have to take your S1 healthcare forms to your local INSS office and they will process the application form and then you will need to take the processed forms to the clinic and they will give you a SIP card and assign you to a doctor
Its very difficult to get an appointment at this time but often if you employ the use of a Gestor they may have allocated times.

Very helpful member
Trying to do my mothers SIP card was a nightmare . Couldn’t get an appt. , couldnt get through on the phone to Elche. I think I ended up emailing them or thru an enquiry page link and they made a phone appt. When they called they provided an address to mail the S1 , copies of passport , residency and SIP card . Took about 10 days before she received a form to take to the health centre , who issued a new card . All up about 6 weeks
Hello
Don't know which INSS office you are trying to register withbut yes, it is difficult but not impossible .
Your S1 form needs to be registered with them, to obtain the correct paperwork to take to your Salud and be allocated a Dr.....perseverance and patience are required - as most of us have found at some point, in Spain.
Cheers

Hi Sue,
My friend and her husband tried for weeks to get an appointment at Torrevieja INSS office. In the end, she used a gestor, Sophie Johnson, to sort it out and she only charged €30. Sophie´s number is (00 34) 675 367 098 - she will respond quicker if you send her a WhatsApp message, rather than leaving a voicemail.
Kind regards,
Kim

Wasn't aware you had to eat a salad to register... this could be a problem for a dedicated carnivore like me 🤔😉
