Hi,       Our remote control for patio window shutters seems to have packed up.  Battery has been replaced without a result. There are no makers info on,or in it, so cannot contact makers. This is quite urgent as shutter is down and it is our only reserve "escape" route should we have a problem in house. etc.  Would really appreciate if anyone can help. Alternatively, does anybody know how to get a replacement remote and have it programmed. ?     All out of my depth !

Thank you

Darro

Remote rarely fail completely.

What happens is that over time  grease from handling somehow manages to migrate under the rubber membrane which is the buttons causing a poor contact with the printed circuit board underneath.

It's usually a simple job to crack them open and clean them.

If it's not working you have little to lose by giving it a go.

If you point your phones camera at it and press the button(s) you should see the infra red transmitter flashing.

Thank you, Darro, for that information. Your suggestion has actually been tried with the entire remote stripped and cleaned etc. Still does not work. However, we have been told that there may well be a code number on the actual shutter motor which we could dial into the remote and this is what we shall try next. This is way out of my zone, so I apologise if I make daft comments.!  I have also been told that there is a special type of plug that I could use in a normal electric socket, that has an.  "up" and "down" lever that could well work the shutter. Could that be possible.?        If all else fails, could I use the shutter manually but would that mean buying a new shutter ?.

Always very happy to receive other ideas.  Thanks .

Hello Auld Reekie !        Yes, thanks. I did contact them this morning and they promised to TP back but so far .....nothing.

They were very helpful on phone and the earliest they could come was 7 days away, though a possibility of this coming Saturday. However they were looking into possibility of urgent call, but so far, no contact. .
