due to apply for NLV we did it last year we have to apply again about november do we need to go through the hole process all the paper work all over again

Hi,we are awaiting our appointment at Alicante. We had to supply all evidence as before regarding funds,we also had to supply a dated marriage licence that needed to be within the last 6 months, then have it apostled and translated. We requested the licence on line and had it sent to a company in Glasgow who did the apostle and sent back to us in Spain which took 2 weeks,we paid extra at the government  site for fast track, the bank statements had to be within one month of applying and Alicante also wanted those translating which took again 2 weeks and expensive here in Spain so I suggest you use a UK translation service, for our first application we used a service in Sleaford and it was all done by email, hopefully we have jumped through all the hoops as when you look on the website there is no mention of marriage certificate, translation services. My advice is give yourself plenty of time to get all the information you need, then if they ask for something else you will not be rushed. Our NLV cards expired on 31 July and due to August holidays we are now in the system which caused a problem with the bank when we wanted to take money out but when asked for our cards they told us to come back when we have new cards. Luckily we had money in another account. I joked with my husband that I could technically drive the car now if I cannot prove residency but won't because the police might have a different take on it. I will post on here if anything else causes a hold up.

Oh dear, more conflicting advice! We have just spent the morning with an advisor in the Tourist office, who phoned Newcastle and checked that the S1 form was still acceptable for pensioners. The Spanish Embassy rules state you must have 'pubic or private health care' so suely S1 covers that? What...

... a complicated, confusing, and contradictory system!! We are unsure what to do now...many homeowners in our position may just decide to sell up and move to France or Portugal, where the rules are apparently much simpler!

I’m getting sickened off Spain too now.

They will except the S1 but you have to register it before going to your interview. We didn’t and then had to do when we got home and post the paper work to the consulate which can delay things

Hi All,

Im starting to get ready to get the second and third extension to the NLV.

Ive been quoted a price  for this but its seems large so will look into doing it my self.

I remember someone posting their experience with the renewal but cant find it.

I know I need the following forms, Forms..

 1.EX01 (two copies)

2. Fee form 790-052

But where do I get these?

Secondly, If I now have my sip card, through S1, then I assume this will meet the medical coverage.

Thirdly do I go to the foreigners office in Alicante as I reside in Rojales. I think it is because from google maps it looks like the same location where I got my NIE card.

Fourthly, do I need to translate my annual pension statements or will copies of bank states showing my pension amounts suffice.

Thanks for reading  and I will let you know of my exploits.

Tony

Hi Tony,

Here's a link to the NLV guide you're looking for:

How to apply for a Non-Lucrative visa (NLV)

And here's a link to the relevant section of the Spanish government website, which includes a link to form EX-01:

https://www.exteriores.gob.es/Embajadas/daressalaam/en/ServiciosConsulares/Paginas/Consular/Visado-de-residencia-no-lucrativa.aspx

Hopefully, these answer all your questions, but come back if you have any outstanding queries.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi, we have renewed our NLV at Alicante immigration centre 2 weeks ago,we have to go back in January to collect our new cards. When we went to Alicante we owed them 3 euros as the cost of the card had increased in the time we were waiting to attend(5 months),so we had to go to a BBV bank with the payment slip, pay and then go back to complete the paperwork. On your 3rd point,we had to get everything translated and they also asked for a marriage certificate dated in the last 6 months which had to also be apostled. Our first year card expired in June and we applied 3 months in advance but still could not get an appointment until December. Your new card will be post date to the expiry date of your first card. We have travelled back to UK,shown our card with the confirmed paper from the solicitor stating we are in the system so as not to get our passports stamped. We used a solicitor to make sure we got everything right and they have access to appointments at immigration.
