Hello,

We had an appointment today for residence for non Eu citizen. I am eu citizen and have my residence for a couple months.

The residence for my husband has been denied today. The reason, we have a S1 form for my husband but they needed an official document that shows what this S1 covers exactly. Does anybody know where I get this form?

Excuse my English, it is my second laugage...

Thank you for yours replies.

The S1 itself - unless it's altered since I received mine - says:

This is your and your family members' certificate of entitlement to sickness, maternity, and equivalent paternity benefits in kind (i.e. health care, medical treatment etc.) in your State of residence.

The national police stations are used to S1s being submitted as part of residency applications, so it sounds as though they are just being awkward.

An official translation must bear the stamp of the Hague Apostille, but it's not something I've ever needed so I can't point you in the right direction.

As an aside, I assume your husband's application is for a residency certificate as a family member of an EU citizen, and that he isn't applying for a residencia TIE.

Thank you Jim for your replays.

Yes indeed he is applying for residency certificate as a family member of an eu citizen.

I think it is strange because they accepted my S1, without transalation or anything when I applied for residence a few months ago.

Seems a bit crazy to get private healthcare for 1 year in order to get residency.

An S1 is an S1 and awarding means that your health care is paid for by UK, no conditions, ifs or buts etc.

As Jim suggests either somebody is being awkward or equally likely they simply do not know their job!

The latter is very wide spread - my own experience after living over 50 years in Spain. Don't worry - keep friendly and try again a few days later. Never insist. As long as you are not fimilar with applicable rules and regulations (how could you) you are helpless, not to forget the language barrier, and they take advantage of it. Sorry to say this, but this is how things work here, excluding exceptions.

You could try using a specialist and I used Uma at getlegalinspain.com, she is Spanish, also speaks Danish and English and she deals with this type of thing.
