My nebouragh is a drug driver. He grows at least 10 cannabis plants each year and mixes it with his tobboco smoking it 24 _ 12. Would you shop him

If you're 100% sure of your facts then yes, in a heartbeat.

Hi John Jack, and welcome to the Forum. I am unsure if you mean he drives a vehicle whilst under the influence of the drug. If so, then he is committing, what is termed a ' Misdemeanour' offence., punishable by a fine.  I do not condone in any way at all the production or use of drugs that are of an illegal nature, however, I believe , in Spain, as far as Cannabis is concerned it is Legal to cultivate the drug for Personal use only , and for use in a non Public place, with the proviso the plant is not grown in a position viewable by the general Public. If the drug is grown for profit via Resale, it can be seen as a Criminal offence.

In the case you highlight, I have no idea whatsoever what quantity of the drug 10 plants would yield and I guess the quantity may have a bearing on whether or not,it could be classed as for 'Personal use '.

LeckyLes.

To add onto the end of the post from LeckyLes, I believe 6 plants for personal use is the acceptable level. I may stand corrected.

To respond to the original post... It is a moral dilemma. If you say nothing, then the user hurts someone, or worse, whilst under the influence... you will likely feel bad for not saying something.

The flip side is that IF you do say something, it may come back at you and cause you other issues?

I have 2 neighbours who light up as soon as their front door closes, so technically meeting the requirements of a non-public place. The stench is overwhelming and, for a non-smoker, I find it annoying but I have to accept it is part of the Spanish culture of which I have chosen to live in.

Sometimes tolerance is a better option than confrontation. In my case I am going down the tolerant route, for the OP, it is a little more of a dilemma.

Good luck.

I had to laugh at the report recently from when La Vuelta was going through a town and being followed by a helicopter for the aerial shots, the camera footage caught sight of a roof top cannabis factory which was reported to the Police by the TV viewers and the house got an abrupt knock on the door by the Guardia Civil.

...or by the Guardia Civil.

There are 3 separate issues here.

1. (let´s stick with cannabis) For use & consumption in private. No problem. It is also seems to “turn a blind eye, even in public. Including in “public” includes, parks, bars & transportation etc.

2. Importation or sale (gaol time).

3. With regard in using, ie: driving, the drug in a vehicle/car etc in public, then transgresses into Road Traffic Law.

Every day is a learning day - I didn't know any of this. In legal terms do the Spanish treat drink driving and drug driving the same?
