Hi All, hope someone can help me. I went to take my car for an ITV today and I can not find my original documents only scanned one. Can someone tell me what I need to take and where I can get new ones. Thank you

Look here. http://www.spanish-number-plates.com/articles/Duplicate%20documents.pdf

Remember if the ITV expires before you get the paperwork sorted you can no longer drive the car and will have to have it transported for the new ITV.

What price keeping those documents 'safe' now ?

I never could understand the reluctance to keep the original documents in the car, pray tell what is it exactly that folk are afraid of?

It's okay. The scanned documents I've got are previous owners. The people that changed it over for me didn't call to say it arrived so my documents are at there office.

To answer your question.

It stems from the UK.  We were always told never to keep original documentation in the car.

The reason for that is that if someone nicks the car they could fill in the log book and sell it as their own.

The UK police will accept photocopies of any docs you keep in the car but these days with number plate recognition they have all your details before they even get to your window!!!  Including your inside leg measurement and a facial scan!!
