Hi my husband and I bought a house in San Luis last year. We went to see solicitor about residencia but as I am not retired until next year I have been told that I cant move here full time because I havent got an income. My husband is retired so I will need to work till next June till I receive my state pension then hopefully We can move then. We have quite a good bank balance, but seemingly it is nogood as it isnt classed as an income. Help
Thanks Ray for your speedy reply. We are coming over next week so hopefully will find out more. Cheers
Many solicitors have little or no actual experience in how residencia works in practice, and sometimes it seems not too much idea about other things either.
All Brit applications are now handled centrally in Alicante and feedback from the horses mouth (as opposed to the opposite end!) suggest that proof of savings can and has proved adequate.
Thanks Movington for your reply also.Hopefully will find out more next week.
Thanks again Ray

Hi Jadela,
The question you put is one which crops up fairly regularly on this Forum and is one which receives varying replies.
I can understand the frustration felt by you and others concerning the vagueness of Official guidance on the matter, and the seemingly lack of any set rules throughout Spain .
Noticeably, during the past couple of years, Many people have discussed ,on this Forum, their intentions and experiences of dealing which Residencia. Therefore I wonder if any reading this thread could help others in similar circumstances such as your good self. Could they post here indicating the criteria they had to meet in respect of what was asked of them in terms of finances when applying for Residence, I.e, was it Monthly income, Savings, Property ownership, a mixture of these things ,or something else, plus indicate which Area,, Region they dealt with.
If you can reply with your experience of this important matter I am sure many members would be extremely grateful, and your assistance would clear up the confusion felt by many.
Thanks.

Hi I thought as you have stated "all residencia applications are being handled centrally in Alicante", however a friend has just gained there's in Elda office( 2 weeks ago) and told me Elche and other offices are doing them. I was puzzled as I thought only Alicante were doing them.

Pauline.

Hi Pauline. Just to make things clearer, the online appointments system is only offering Alicante, but several police station still do residency applications - it just needs a visit or phone call to make an appointment.
For the benefit of the OP, the following might help to clarify the process:
Thanks Jim for explaination, maybe their solicitor made appointment by phone.
