Vaccines

Hello,

Only this morning I phoned Health Services in Valencia from where you will be informed about your jab.  I obtained the number  (900 300 555) from my local surgery who, like yours, were unable to help as they do not deal with the 65-69 age group.

According to a very helpful person who answered the phone, all those over 70 will or will have received the Pfeizer, those 64 and under the Astra Zenaca. It has not yet been decided whether Pfeizer or the Moderna the 65-69 year olds will be receiving. Once a decision is reached they will be contacting everyone concerned. She believed this would take two weeks at the very most and reassured me that there is nothing to worry about.

Spain suspended use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for people 65 years old and above.  The 80s and 90s have already been vaccinated with the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine and this will also be administered to what the Spanish media are calling "the sandwich", i.e. the age group from 65 to 79.  They're working from 79 down, so it may take a little longer for you to get your jabs, but at least you're more likely to get Pfizer or Moderna, but definitely not AZ.  In the meantime, you need to ensure that your medical centre has your up to date contact details, including a Spanish phone number.

Thanks for that,but what I don't understand tomorrow a friend 71 has the jab,last week a70 year old had the jab and 10 days a 75 year old couple had the jab,another friend, 74 had the jab last week ,all the Pfizer but 76 year old friends haven't heard anything, their details are upto date.So what worries me there is pattern,not alphabetical. 

Thank you for clarifying that,  Kim. You are correct in what you say. The notes of my conversation specifically said Pfeizer of Moderna. When passing this information on to a friend I wondered whether the omission of AZ was an error of mine and included it. Thank you for clarifying once again. I have amended this in my original post.

Not sure they are working down the age group as Kimmy11 mentions if you say a 70,71,74 and 75 year old have been vaccinated but a 76 year old has not.

Quite frankly it's a mess, cant make up their minds who to give what to. Someone somewhere needs to make a decision quickly and stick to it, but all this indecision is so typical of Spain you would be hard pressed to get a straight answer if you asked what day of the week it was.

I've highlighted the C Valencia 1st doses given to 70-79 age group as of last week.

SClayton and I have posted official information, but you dismiss it because it doesn't suit your relentlessly negative view of Spain?  Funny how we managed to get a "straight answer", but you can't..... 

Hear, hear. My thoughts exactly when l first read the post. Pix Elated, are you being held in Spain against your will? Given any two options, eg another country and Spain,  who in their right mind would choose the lesser one?

The week before last, a friend drove me to have my vaccine. We were both jaw droppingly impressed by the precision with which it was organised. His comment was, 'They could not organise it so well at home'.

I had my first AZ jab at the Torrevieja vaccination centre this morning and agree with your comments: the organisation was excellent and the staff were charming and very patient.
