Hola

My husband is one of many not able to return to the UK as his flight for 3rd April is cancelled and his medication will run out after that date. Although we are residents we haven't used the Spanish Health System for some time, apparently the Health Centre in San Miguel has closed? Or perhaps open for emergencies only?

Royal Mail here in the U.K. are doing their best to keep going and hopefully the Correous is doing the same but no one knows from one day to the other what changes will have to be made - if anyone has any information or suggestions that would be appreciated.

Many thanks and stay safe

Hi Cat lady,

All medical centres are closed to non-urgent requirements.  If you're residents, has your husband previously had his meds prescribed by your local medical centre?  If so, your husband can phone them, they can update the prescription online and then he goes direct to a pharmacy to collect it.  Failing that, he can take his meds to a pharmacy and see whether they are available over the counter without a prescription.

Kind regards,

Kim

Not sure whst the UK post office and Correos in Spain have to do with the situation but your oh should be able to go to his local pharmacy and buy what he needs over the counter

Depending on the individual pharmacy, and possibly what exactly it is he needs, he may need to show a previous prescription or boxes from what he's taking.

How's he been getting it up til now, is there perhaps a bit more behind this than meets the eye?

Hi

The main Medical Center in La Mata is still open , but for emergence's only..

If it's a real problem then dial 112

Plus, if you don't have a SIP card, and it's probably impossible to get one now, you need to take ID (Passport and EHIC Card) to get treated. If you have medical insurance take that as well. Plus if you have to go together , if you don't have transport, You will need 2 taxis. as they have brought in a new rule, only one person allowed in a taxi .. Hope it works all right for you... Be SAFE.

Hi

Get your husbands UK surgery to email his prescriptions to him. He can then take it into the Pharmacy.

This is what they are doing here in Mallorca, so should work on mainland.

Best wishes

Christine

Hola again, I phoned our doctor’s this morning and the receptionist said they were not sending prescriptions via internet or any other way to Spain, so that’s that!

Hello there

Thank you so much for your reply.  I will send your message to my husband.  Last Thursday I posted special post, medication to last him another month.  I will get him to investigate and see what he comes up with.

Once again, many thanks, your information sounds promising.
