Please can someone confirm to me if travelling to uk by car in the next couple of weeks going trough France will we require a PCR test on entry into France as I think uk only require a COVID test which is cheaper

We are only going to stay one night in France to Calais so hard driving due to lock downs in France 6 pm to 6am or will that effect me if travelling in those hours

Any advice on travelling back would be app

I can’t answer unfortunately but watching the U.K. news there is talk of implementing hotel quarantine for people arriving into the country which will cost something like £1,750 for the duration. Have you been watching/ listening to the news in the U.K.?  On top of that, I don’t think you are permitted to leave the Valencian border.I wish I could help you but I’d have thought that travelling back is nigh impossible or maybe not. I know that many people are very concerned about trying to leave before the end of March.  I hope you can get home and the sooner the better before they implement this hotel quarantine.

I wish you all the luck and a safe journey home.

Hi Trevor,

If you are repatriating to your country of residence, i.e. the UK, you are allowed to leave the Valencian region, you are also allowed to transit both Spain and France.  As Villas' post makes clear, Spain is not currently on the UK's 'red list', so hotel quarantine is not relevant to you either.

This link takes you to the Gov.uk info on Covid-19 testing required prior to entry:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england

and this one provides the info for entry to France - scroll down to the section about travelling between EU countries:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france/entry-requirements

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi can’t help you on which test it is to enter France, but previous posts can give you that information, but as far as I understand it the Antigen test (€40\50) not the expensive PCR test is excepted to enter the uk from France

This is the one we are having to travel from Santander on the ferry in March

Good luck b
