I need to have a blood test, and my prescription for blood pressure medications renewed. FIVE TIMES NOW, my appointments have been cancelled, and now my wife's was cancelled this morning.

No Doctors available?? All got COVID? Well...that speaks a lot about the efficacy of these jabs being mandated. For SURE, they must have had their vaccinations and boosters...obviously don't work, do they? Equally, they all wear face nappies, as do the patients...so they don't work either.

Ironically, there are office staff, and 'lowly' medics available downstairs...

This isn't about Omicron at all, imho. It is all about MONEY.

IT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT, TO RENEW A PRESCRIPTION EXISTING FOR MANY YEARS.

What a bloody shambles. We have been living, and working in Spain for 30 years, and paying for our healthcare here.

I attend my medical centre in Benidorm twice a week and have had very efficient service.

After 30 years, as you say, you should be familiar with what's going on around here. After the first 4-5 years, I started to look into the so any gaps and leaks of the perfect Spanish chaos and even studied their law. Then I turned the table and really enjoy beating their system wherever I have chance or oportunity. On the other hand it is advisable to keep those people you may need happy and well minded when you show up (a little present under the table). That can open many doors.

If you are on regular medication and using the health service regularly, the you must be aware on the problems the health district has had since last October, which has nothing to do with covid. Nothing to do with money either, it’s all down to not being able to replace the staff who left the service.

Guardamar has also been under staffed, but after protests and demonstrations led by the ayuntamiento we have now got staff back to the levels before the takeover. New staff  have started in their roles this week. However even with last weeks staffing levels. I saw the doctor Tuesday, blood tests done Wednesday and results from the doctor on Thursday.

I’m not medical but I’m more than aware that blood tests and medication reviews need to be performed on a regular basis, to ensure your body is receiving the correct medication.

My salud run blood tests as soon as they open of a morning. There must be around 50 people with appointments all for the same time, but once the doors open all 50 people are done and dusted in less than 15 minutes. I know other saluds in the Rojales area operate the same system, therefore I’m surprised to find your tests are being cancelled.

I’m sure once your salud has recruited staff to replace the staff shortages, then normal service will be resumed.

I should have pointed out, we only moved down here from Tarragona, CATALUÑA, 2 years ago. The difference between the two is astounding.

Can't complain about the Medical Centres in Benidorm. I have been able to access my GP throughout the pandemic and when they are not available a substitute is on hand. I have regular check-ups in Marina Baixia hospital also without difficulty and access my medication via the hospital pharmacy. Try getting a check-up in the UK! By the way I also pay into the Spanish healthcare system.

By the way...the reasons given for not fulfilling appointments is because 'Doctors are off sick with COVID', when we enquired why 'all Doctor appointments are cancelled until further notice..' ....and then, just a few minutes ago, my wife received a phone call, saying we both have new appointments next Tuesday????

And although I have ongoing bp problems, I rarely visit the Centre..haven't been ill for 60 years, other than the blood pressure problems...

Thanks again for your reply.

The receptionists here have a very poor reputation. Often rude, and very offhand. They will not update my prescription. And I cannot get to have my bloods taken without visiting the Doctor first. Hence the problems we are experiencing. Or even have my ears syringed.
