I am trying to get a sip card for my wife and have taken all the relevent paperwork to the clinic in san miguel,i waited three weeks and went back as i hadn't received it in the post (it was going to be sent as machine in clinic was not working) the lady in the clinic checked my paperwork again and just shrugged her shoulders and said machine not working is there another route i can take to get the card tia.

You application first needs to be registered with the INSS office (The Instituto Nacional de Seguridad Social (INSS), (Spanish Social Security office), records and controls entitlement to state-funded health and much welfare care), probably in Orihuela. Once this is done and they provide your SIP card this will advise you of the doctor to which you have been allocated. You then need to register the card at your local health centre.

Many thanks,i have done all of that but have not received the card,mine was done there and then at the clinic,but i have now been back after 3 weeks and told that the machine that prints the card does not work.

Ask at your local clinic if you can get your SIP printed somewhere else + how to make an appt without it!. You would also need it for hospital appts & to get medication you are registered for at the farmacia.
Your salud must offer an alternative to a broken machine - if you have language difficulties, take a translator for a visit.
