Invitation letter to enter Spain

Can anybody tell me if our daughter will need an ‘invitation letter’ to visit us please

No. Been asked many times and the reply from officials is no, only required if applying for a visa. On a personal note, we've had 4 sets of visitors this year and none have been asked for anything despite the requirements for enough money, proof of address etc. They've all simply sailed through. 

The carta de invitacion is not simply a letter, it is an official document from the police requiring numbers, length of stay, passport numbers and so on. Nobody does that unless a visa is being requested.
