I am looking at the idea of an assisted living complex in Sanet Y Negrals and notice there is a block of apartments empty in the la Urbanizacion Monte Sol which could fit the bill. Does anyone know when this complex of apartments were built, the condition of these apartments and how long they have stood empty?

I believe they were completed around 2011. They were originally on sale for €200000 but this was when the market crashed and none were sold. I have not seen inside, but they appear to have been completed and look in good condition externally at least.

Hello Felix66.

Thank you so much for replying to my post, I had almost given up on getting any information and was beginning to think that there were no people living in Sanet Y Negrals.lol.

Its quite a time I posted this and at the time, had an investor interested to see if it could be put the properties to use as either a retirement housing complex for over 55's or as holiday properties to be used by over 55's. As the owners were looking for too much at the time, my investor decided not to take the matter further and consequently, we didn't get to visit the place.

I have written to the owners again to see what the situation is now but perhaps you could answer the question of would the area benifit with our idea for the properties or is there not a call for such?

Perhaps you could be good enough to find out if anyone is actually occupying any of the apartments at the moment. I would be eternally grateful for any further news.Thank you.

I am certain that they are totally unoccupied, and always have been. As I mentioned, they look in good condition externally at least. It is hard to say whether there would be much interest as an over-55s retirement type accommodation. The village is small - about 700 population - but it does have decent amenities considering the size. There is also a bus service which connects with the major hospital, along with Ondara and Denia, the major nearby towns.

Thank you once again felix66.

Can you tell me what the percentage of English speaking people are in the village and approximately, how far it is to the sea? Also what kind of amenities does the village actually have. Thank you.

I would guess that about 10% speak English. The majority are locals who speak Valenciano primarily, but also standard Spanish. Manageable though if you know a few Spanish words.

The village has a butcher, tobacconist (selling postage stamps also), 2 small grocery/general purpose shops, a bakers shop, a small clothes shop, and a tiny market is held on Saturdays (mainly fruit and veg). There is a full size outdoor swimming pool open in the summer months, and a football/basketball court adjacent to the Plaza used by the local children mainly. The Plaza has a bar/restaurant which does tapas and fairly basic meals. The village also has quite a high class restaurant which people travel some distance to eat there - it is small, only about 6 tables. There is another larger bar popular with the younger people which stays open very late at the weekends (no food).

The closest beaches run for miles from Els Poblets to Denia - about 15 km from Sanet and 20 minutes in the car.

That's very informative Felix66 and I cant say thank you enough. I take it you live in the village and must like it.  I will keep your details, and who knows, if I ever do get up to see the place and the area, I will message you and perhaps we can have a glass or two of vino in one of the local bars. I actually love these kind of villages which arn't densely populated. I live near Alicante myself.

Thanks once again.

Malcolm.
