We are retiring to Santa Pola on 2nd February 2018 and have our flights booked already. We have holidayed here for the past few years but have heard very little English spoken. Although we are trying to learn a little Spanish we are interested to know whether there are any English speakers living in the area.

HI, there are definitely quite a few English speaks in Santa Pola town but maybe not so easy to find them.  My husband and I retired here 20 months ago and live in Gran Alacant which is technically part of Santa Pola.  There are many nationalities here and you can get very cheap Spanish classes at the local library.  It is a good way to meet people also.  We would be happy to meet up and help with any settling in problems.

Good evening Bobby,

Thank you for your response and we are happy to hear from you. Yes it would be nice to meet up once we arrive over there and the library sounds useful as we are hoping to continue learning Spanish once we relocate. It is still a few months away and we only wish it were tomorrow as we can't wait to waive work goodbye and to start relaxing. If it's ok with yourselves we will contact you when we get there to arrange a meeting. Thank you, Russ

I am moving to Santa Pola Central/Este at the end of this month. I would happily meet you both for a coffee & chat when you arrive.

Regards, Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

How are you? Are you now living in Santa Pola and if so how are you finding it so far? We're still counting down the days and weeks to 2nd Feb when we come over there. It has been raining here all day again and we can't wait to get some sun on our backs.

Anyway I hope that it's working out well for you and look forward to hearing from you to find out how it's going.

Regards,

Russ

Hola

My husband and I retired to Gran Alacant last year but spend quite a lot of time in Santa Pola.  I go to Spanish lessons in the civic centre in Santa Pola and also go to English / Spanish interchange in local bar there .  There are some English people in Santa Pola but there is definitely no expat community.  There are lots of other nationalities living there and enjoying the way of life; many of them speak English. Once you are here you will no doubt have a couple of local cafes that you will frequent and that is the way to find out what's going on.

Get in touch when you arrive and we can meet up if you like 🇪🇸

Hi, fellow Gran Alacant residents.  If you feel like meeting up for a coffee or drink we would be happy to do so as it is always good to meet new people.
