Hello
I live in Gran Alacant but know Santa Pola fairly well.
Calle Mediodia is near the school zone, just on the outskirts of Santa Pola. This means it is very easy to access the main road to Alicante. I would imagine parking would be easier as it is just less crammed in this area. You are still only a 10 minute walk to town centre eg castle, glorieta square . Maybe 15-20 minute walk to marina .
Calle francisco Martinez is nearer the beach and I would imagine the parking would be much tighter. In the summer it is extremely busy. If you plump for this area, look for a house with guaranteed parking place ( at least for 1 car) . Outside of the summer season it shouldn't be a problem. You are more in the ' holiday home' area here so apartments can be very expensive.
Security: Santa Pola is not a high crime area. I think most crime is opportunistic eg occasionally hear of people getting garden furniture/ plants stolen from the garden. In the school area, people live there all year round. I think you might get more space for your money as well in this area as it is not seen as the 'holiday home ' area.
Socialising: if you don't speak Spanish....learn ! Even a little goes a long way. We go to Spanish class at the civic centre ( near Francisco Martinez) and language exchange meets in local bar . Many Spanish people in Santa Pola are desperate to improve their English . It's a good way to meet people of different nationalities . There is live music in St James bar at the marina .
Hope this gives you a flavour ? Just give me shout if you want any further information....I'll try my best!
Best wishes
Anne
