A solicitor will not be able to do anything relatd to residency that you cannot do on your own. Better talk to a "gestoria" but insist on a binding quote. By no means I'd pay more than 100,-

You can do it yourself . It all seems very daunting but it’s not so bad once you get things together.

There’s an English  speaking German lady at Sabadell at the Glorieta to help you with new accounts.

Residency certificate can be obtained via the council website.    Ayuntamiento de Santa Pola

Alfonso at Gran Alacant insurances is good for finding health insurance. [email protected]
The TIE isn’t complicated....the worst part is actually getting an appointment. You’ll go to Alicante itself.

Hello all,

I have been living in San Lorenzo de El Escorial for 4 year's, during the brexit and covid, I have not returned to the uk, not once and to be honest I don't intend to in the near future anyway. I am now living in Santa Pola, moved here because my health was really bad up in the mountains of Madrid. A lot better now with the climate here. I have rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, raynauds disease and disfagia.

I really don't know if I have a problem or not. I have my Padrons, NIE and health cards here but still no residency.  I was born in Wales and have a UK passport, my mother was born in Dublin, Southern Ireland which is still part of the EU.

Do I have any rights of stay and what about contracts for working? Can anybody please advise me?

Many thanks and kindest regards

Kattie xx

P.S. Never heard of a TIE card.

You should have residency if u are residing full time in Spain.

Your easiest option is to get yourself an Irish passport. ( though at the moment the wait may be long as ,unsuprisingly , there’s a lot of people trying this route )  you’ll need your mothers birth certificate and marriage certificate as well as your own birth certificate. Google how to get an  Irish passport  . The Irish gov website has the info you need

Thus will give you a right to stay and work.  You will need to register with the national Police ,(  hubby went to Elche ). Much less money required in the bank.

Option two , get a non lucrative visa requiring funds but not able to work  about 27,000 euros needed in the bank or thereabouts .

option 3 . get a job with a contract and have the employer apply for the visa for you.

I think the window to claim retrospectively under the withdrawal agreement has closed but someone else may know .

Cfell63 - We finally made it here with our NLV....got our Padron appt completed and trying to get an appointment for the T.I.E. but when I register online is says "No appointments at this time" and they will get back to me.  Has anyone else had this experience?  Should I just go to the office in Alicante to make an appointment?  Thank you for any advice and we are excited to finally be here!
